Volunteer Corps
התנדבות
SERVE our community.
INSPIRE our kids.
The JLA Volunteer Corps is a group of parents dedicated to strengthening the bond between JLA families, our school, and the community. Members of the Volunteer Corps participate in a variety of meaningful volunteer opportunities throughout the year that range from supporting internal school events and programs to collaborating with external organizations on community service projects. Not only do the activities of the JLAVC foster a strong connection between our JLA families and the school community, but they set a powerful example for our students of what it looks like to live by JLA’s core value of service to others.
Internal Volunteerism
The Volunteer Corps Coordinator is appointed and meets throughout the year with the leaders of the school’s various academic and non-academic departments to determine the needs they have, which can be met or supported by parent or community volunteers. They may range from ambassadors and docents for an Open House, to field trip chaperones, adult education advisory boards, and everything in between. Those opportunities are then presented to members of the JLA Volunteer Corps who will select the ones that fit their skill set, passions, and availability.
External Volunteerism
The Volunteer Corps Coordinator meets with the various organizations that JLA is working with through its Service Entrepreneurship Program, or who provide support or partnership to JLA in various ways. He or she will schedule a monthly opportunity for parents to show up and volunteer at these organizations, so parents can learn where their children are volunteering and share their experiences with them.
